NATIONAL FICTION DAY - JEFF STRUECKER & MAGGIE BRENDAN

NATIONAL FICTION DAY AT LIFE WAY MALL OF GA STORE - We had the previlege of having TWO authors be with us this year. Jeff Strucker and Maggie Brendan. Jeff's first book was a non-fiction book based on his military service. Jeff's new book is his first fiction book Certain Jeporady. It has miltary action but he told me his book also talks about how the family lives without their husband or father in the house and how they deal with him being in combat.

CERTAIN JEPORADY
BOOK DESCRIPTION
Product Description

Six American men live behind a protective fa├žade, their real work hidden from neighbors and friends. Different in countless ways, they are intimately the same in one: at any moment their lives can be altered with a phone call, and their actions may change the world.

They are Special Ops. And one team’s mission is about to hit certain jeopardy status when the discovery of an Al Qaeda base in Venezuela becomes secondary to thwarting the transport of a nuclear weapons expert from that training camp to Iran.

Informed by the true combat experience of Captain Jeff Struecker and finessed by award-winning novelist Alton Gansky, Certain Jeopardy is an immersing and pulsating fictional account of what really happens at every level of a stealth engagement: the physical enemy encounter, the spiritual war fought within a soldier, and the emotional battles in families back at home.

Jeff said that if you like this book, there is sequel in the works. :D

Just when she thinks she's getting a handle on the constant male attention from the cowhands and the catty barbs from some of the local young women, tragedy strikes the ranch. Crystal will have to tap all of her resolve to save the ranch from a greedy neighboring landowner. Can she rise to the challenge? Or will she head back to Georgia defeated? Book one in the Heart of the West series, No Place for a Lady is full of adventure, romance, and the indomitable human spirit. Readers will fall in love with the Colorado setting and the spunky Southern belle who wants to claim it as her own.
Maggies next book will hit book shelves in the fall of this year.

We had a good sized crowd to meet these authors. It was fun to get to know then in between the people they were signing books for.
Jeff described his new book to me. It's not what I expected. I think I'm going to have to check it out. It sounded intriguing. So did his non-fiction book about his service to our country. His experiences were put into the movie Black Hawk Down. I know my husband would love that book.

I had so much fun talking and laughing with Maggie and her husband. They were a riot. Of course I had to tell Maggie that she was wearing my favorite color and I found out it's her favorite color too!! After hearing Maggie talk about her book I'm excited to read her book too. She told me she has some interest about making her first book into a movie. Wouldn't that be very cool!! I'm so blessed to hang out with Maggie in June when she'll be back for another book signing event with Julie Lessman, author of A Passion Most Pure - our book club selection for June.

Over all it was one special day where I had the pleasure of meeting two very caring, special authors. It doesn't get any better than that.

Until Next time.
