GIVE AWAY - NORA INTERVIEWS DiANN MILLS

Watch the Book Trailer:

I know that you have written in several different genres – Romance,Suspense, historical etc .which is the hardest for you to write in? What is your favorite?

The hardest genre is the romantic suspense. The advancement of technology and its rapid changes make it a challenge to write a fast-paced novel. The plot has to move fast with steadily rising stakes. Whew! But I love it!

My favorite? Hmm. That's like asking a woman which one of her children is her favorite. I'd say whatever I'm working on at the present is my favorite.

How did you get the idea for Leather & Lace?

I suppose my crazy wild imagination. Actually I like twisting the typical. I'd read so many novels where the outlaw is tamed by a sweet, young thing. Ho Hum. I wanted a different story. I wanted Casey to be rough and tough with a bad childhood and her future going nowhere. But I wanted to show her feminine side too, a heroine readers would love.

Book Trailer for all three Texas based books.

What part of Leather & Lace - came first for you – Plot,Characters, setting, subject matter? How did this story come together?

In some books, the plot comes first and in others, the character snatches my attention. No matter what steals my attention first, I'm a character gal. My purpose with Leather and Lace , in addition to writing an entertaining story, was to show how God rescues the perishing. I wanted the woman of today, who has been incardinated, to find hope. My hero wasn't the best of guys either. Both hero and heroine had changes to make before they could be right for each other.

What was your favorite scene in Leather and Lace? I totally enjoyed this story.

This was one of my favorites too. My favorite scene is when she challenged Grant to give up target practice and risked her life by explaining why.

How did you come up with the idea for "Footsteps?" That story was
so surprising for me. Every woman's nightmare - their children are
stolen. Was this hard for you to write?

It was a nightmare! I remember driving up in front of the mall close to my home and my children were gone! Of course I found them later. But for that brief moment. Scared me to death!

Out of all the characters you have written, which ones are most like you? Which ones would you secretly want to be? Why?

Most like me? Bonnie - Lightning and Lace:

Like to be? Paige - Breach of Trust. Love to be a CIA agent.

How did you come up with the idea "Awaken My Heart"?

From watching Zorro!

What are you working on now? What can you tell us about your new project? How was the writing experience different than when you worked on your last book? When will this new project be out?

Sworn to Protect. This story takes place in MacAllen Texas. The heroine is a Border Patrol agent whose husband was the victim of an unsolved murder. Now she is the target of a killer.

I have read several of your books and each one is so different. Each was a unique Adventure. I loved that about your writing. I know that your tag is "Expect an Adventure" and it's so true. Where do you get your ideas for your stories since they are so different?

From movies, media headlines, dreams and nightmares, observing people, listening to dialogue, genealogy - everywhere. :)

QUESTIONS YOU REALLY WANTED TO ASK DiANN BUT WERE AFRAID TO, SO I DID! :D

1.What is the neatest place you have ever visited so far and why? What made it so special, memorable for you?

Southern Sudan. I have a passion for the southern Sudanese, their sufferings, their courage, and their incredible faith. I visited there in 2006 to research When the Nile Runs Red. To say it changed me is so clichés, but it's true. We westerners are so so selfish. We have no idea what it truly means to say "Jesus is enough." I met people who had suffered beyond my imagination, and the memories will be with me forever.

2. If had 24 hours to hang out with any two people dead or alive in the History of the world, what two people would you pick and why? What would you do? Talk about?

Apostle Paul - I'd want to simply listen to what he had to say. Maybe some of his incredible faith and writing ability would rub off on me. :)

Louisa May Alcott - Reading her books as a child inspired me to write. I'd like to take a walk in the woods with her and talk about whatever she wanted to share. Maybe find out where she found her story and character ideas.

3. If you were trapped in a dangerous and life threatening situation, which fictional character would you choose to save your life? (this could be a cartoon, comic book character, a super hero, a movie persona, etc. ) Why them?

Snoopy - I'd want to give him something else to write about.
OR

Dilbert - He needs a break, a burst to his ego, or something to think about beside his horrible job situation. :)

I Know -Zorro!

(DiAnn with her real live hero - husband)

4.What two places do you love to shop? Why?

Chico's - they fit and look terrific. Of course I need a sale and a coupon.

Coldwater Creek - a different yet classy look. Of course I need a sale and a coupon. :)

5. What special quality or talent do you have that would surprise people? What special event have you experienced that would surprise people?

That is so hard! I love to cook so that might come as a surprise. Nothing impressive about that. And I exercise every morning. Nothing impressive about that. Oh! Maybe it's my bit of daredevil. And the special event to show that would be my trip to Sudan or possibly riding the line with Border Patrol Agents in Texas.

6. If you had all the time in the world (and just as much money);to do ANYTHING you wanted, what would you do?

(DiAnn and Laura Snelling)

Buy a castle in Ireland and open it for writers from all over the world to visit, relax, and get inspired to continue to write what God has purposed for them.

7. If money is not an problem where is your favorite place to have breakfast? What is your favorite thing to order there? Where would you go for dinner? What would you eat?

Mount Juliet, Conrad Ireland. It's a former castle and grounds. I don't care what's on the menu as long as I have a pot of their wonderful coffee. Oh, I'd order a scone!

Mount Juliet, Conrad, Ireland for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I love the people, the food, the view, the landscaping, the atmosphere. All of it.

8. They have recently invented a machine where you could change ONE thing about yourself; you have been given the opportunity to use that machine. What would you change? What would that change look like in your life?

I'm assuming this is a physical change. How about no wrinkles and ten pounds less? I'd probably spend less time in front of the mirror making faces at myself.

OR

How about a machine that would edit my books? Or a machine that pumps out the best marketing plan? Or a machine that ensures the writer of the best plot available?

9. Say you were chosen to be a guest speaker on a TV talk show, which show would you most want to be on and why?

Bill O'Reilly - I like his quirky sense of humor, his honesty, and his cute smile. Oh, we'd talk about the value of Christian novels and the potential impact in a world desperately craving hope.

10. If you had to be a super hero for a while who would you be and why? (you can mix and match the powers and make up your own clothing line (Ha!) you are the author here – be creative).

I'd be Mighty Mimi - my granddaughter calls me Mimi. I'd be able to whip up chocolate chip cookies in five minute. Kiss boo-boos from anywhere in the world. Fly instantly to a grandchild's special event. Click my fingers and have every Disney animation at my fingertips. Create better stories than any children's writer. Naps would never be necessary. I'd have a circus and a zoo in my backyard. And I could play every musical instrument while singing perfectly on pitch.

(This is me at 18 months old - I felt like a super hero ready to leap tall buildings in a single bound - OK, back to your question)
I'd wear an orange body suite (size 4) with the body of a twenty-year-old, Prada shoes that sparkled green, orange, and yellow with four inch heels, makeup that never faded, a green purse with an endless supply of candy that didn't upset tummies or cause tooth decay or spoil appetites and was allergy free. And I'd wear a yellow cape that allowed me to fly.
