Deliver Me from Evil introduces readers to Mara, an eighteen-year-old girl who has been enslaved for nearly ten years, having been sold by her parents in Mexico and then smuggled across the border into San Diego where she was forced into sexual slavery. Readers will also meet 18-year-old, Bible-college-bound Jonathan and his 16-year-old sister, Leah, whose paths cross Mara’s and who become involved in her dramatic rescue.
Interwoven between the stories of Mara, Jonathan, and Leah is the heartbreaking story of another young woman in captivity in the Golden Triangle of Thailand, whose past life mysteriously connects to the young people in San Diego.

NOTE: I was introduced to this author through her EXTREME DEVOTION series. She wrote 4 books in this series, the last being the BEST in the series for me. It is called THE PEOPLE OF THE BOOK. Now Kathi Macias starts a new series called FREEDOM Series.  I can only imagine where this author will take the reader in this series. Her last series has changed the way I think about things that happen in other countries and my own. I'm even praying differently! I know this subject matter will be tough to read but it's something I'm sure is triply hard to live. I'm so thankful that Kathi is making people aware of things we other wise wouldn't come in contact with! Thanks Kathi for writing these books!!

Can a brand-new marriage withstand the weight of generations-old baggage?

Newlyweds Amelia and Marcus Sheffield are recent college grads, trying to stay afloat in LA while searching for their dream jobs. Marcus hopes to become a mega-church pastor. Amelia has an esteemed music degree, and longs to play piano professionally. The Sheffields are clearly city people.

But when a small town church offers Marcus a job, the couple’s dedication to their dreams and each other is tested. After a risky compromise is made, Amelia falls into a dark emotional place, where she finds skeletons she’d fought hard to deny. In desperation, she calls out to God. But why can’t she find Him? While Amelia struggles, Marcus learns news that nearly crushes him. He must lean on his faith to withstand the pressure… or risk losing his wife forever.

NOTE: I just finished this book and think it's Alison's BEST book so far. It's a book I'm still thinking about and has me cheering that she was brave enough to write things down on print that all of us struggle with. The inner turmoil we have about giving God control of our lives and Trusting Him in ALL THINGS!! Wow, what a book. I highly recommend reading it!

When Catharine Olsen leaves Holland for America as a mail-order bride, she brings along some extra baggage: two sisters, her mother's set of Blue Willow china, and a tragic past. When she arrives in Cheyenne, Wyoming, she promptly marries Peter Andersen and dreams of starting life over in this rugged land. Peter is kind and patient with Catharine and accommodating to her sisters. His mother, however, is not. When she begins a campaign to sabotage Peter's marriage, Catharine is distraught, worried that her secret past will be discovered. Will her life end up as nothing but broken pieces? Or will these trials make her stronger?

Readers will love negotiating the clash of cultures and class as a highborn European and a Western wheat farmer learn to love one another and trust God with both the past and the future.

NOTE: LOVE this book cover, there is definitely a message there! I've read a few books by this author and look forward to where she takes the reader on this new adventure. Sounds good!
