About Anita - Taken from her blog
I grew up in India, climbing mango trees, and devouring books and mangoes. With a post-graduate degree in journalism and mass communications in hand, I moved to Canada to major in communications and culture at the University of Windsor. A brief stint in advertising and P.R. followed when I returned to India. I soon moved on to teaching journalism at my alma mater–a time I still treasure. I worked for 13 years as a writer/editor with Habitat for Humanity International.

A few years ago, while riding the emotional roller coaster of a high-risk pregnancy after almost 10 years of infertility, a whisper sounded in my heart: “Write to encourage others.” That whisper soon grew to a crescendo. Now most days find me doing a balancing act between homeschooling and writing.
Life’s ups and downs have included job loss, the death of loved ones an ocean away, chronic illness, and infertility. Despite a recent diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis, a degenerative auto-immune disorder, I believe and have experienced that “though weeping may last for the night, joy comes in the morning.” So I continue to write and speak of hope in spite of life’s challenges.

I caught up with Anita Mellott at her book launch party at Life Way Mall of GA Store recently to promote her new book SCHOOL IS WHERE THE HOME IS!. She has just written a devotional book tailored for the encouragement of home school moms but I feel that anyone can benefit from Anita's frank and encouraging approach found in the daily readings. I LOVED her transparency and her Love for the Lord!

Anita has some really yummy treats at her book signing with some goodies to give away for drawings while she was doing her book signing. I've know Anita for a while and saw how hard she worked to put this devotional together. It's written from her heart.  loved her honesty and the way she leans on the Lord.

It was Great fun to Laugh with Anita on her special day!

“The devotions found in School Is Where the Home Is are exactly what my homeschool days need! Anita opens the door to her home and heart to share soul-stirring wisdom for how God can transform your homeschool journey into all that the Lord longs for it to be—both for you and your children. Whether youÂ’re new to homeschooling or a veteran, these devotions will lighten your load, brighten your mood, and heighten your awareness that God is with you every step of the way.”

--Amy Wallace, author of the Defenders of Hope series and homeschool mom of three, navigating high school, middle school, and elementary school with a smile—most days

“With clarity and sincerity, Anita Mellot leads the reader through a series of short readings and reflections which become more than just a time of devotion, but spark powerful and relevant thoughts on how we can be the best parent we can. Her heart as a mother, her dedication as a wife, and her years of experience combine in humility and insight. Not your typical collection of daily devotions, School Is Where the Home Is offers any parent a simple contemplation on the things that really matter.”

It was fun to rejoice with Anita at her book signing. I remembered when she got the idea for this book and I've seen her work really hard thought some real challenges to get this book written. It's truly a labor of love!
