LINDI PETERSON GIVEAWAY HER BEST CATCH & INTERVIEW

LINDI PETERSON'S BIO: I am an author of contemporary Christian romance novels focusing on the amazing love of Jesus Christ and how His love influences our ability to love one another. I live north of Atlanta, Georgia with my hubby. We are empty nesters as far as children go, but we do support, feed and care for a dog, 2 cats and 2 birds. (Who are at often time way louder than the kids used to be!) I've wanted to be a writer ever since I can remember. So about 12 years ago I started writing novels. Writing for publication is an amazing, crazy journey, but I wouldn't trade it in at all!

Currently I am the president of our local ACFW group. I enjoying speaking and giving workshops. I truly believe I am called by God to be a writer. There are too many confirmations to believe otherwise.

How did you come up with the idea for Her Best Catch?

I had read Kristin Billerbeck’s What a Girl Wants and Judy Bauer’s The Whitney Chronicles. I loved both of those novels. I was writing at the time, but not those type of novels. I remember one day, sitting down at the computer thinking I would just ‘see’ if I could pen a novel with the tones of Kristin and Judy.
I started out with a whole different plot, then stopped and started over. I worked and worked and finished the book in 74 days. Of course it needed revising which I started right away. I found I had a passion for writing I didn’t even know I had.

Where do you get your ideas for your plots? My ideas for plots come from anywhere.

I can hear a tidbit of a story, see a television commercial and sometimes a ‘first line’ of a book pops into my mind. Normally I have to rework that ‘first line’ but that’s okay. I love just jumping into writing the story. Since I don’t really plot I do end up with a rough, rough first draft. Then there’s something to work with. I enjoy the revising processes.

Could you tell me how the book cover process works for you? The covers your books are very eye catching, just wondered if you had a say in how they turned out?  Just wondering how involved you are in this process?

I was extremely pleased with my cover. I sent my publisher pictures of covers I liked and sent them a written idea of what I wanted from the cover. Deb Dixon designed my cover. It was sent to me in an email. The email said to let them know what I thought. They were willing to work around what I didn’t like. I sent them back an email telling them I LOVED it! The people at Bell Books are wonderful to work with and are very author friendly.

Can you give us a sneak peek into what book you are working on right now? When does it release?

I can give you a sneak peek into my upcoming release, Summer Song, which will release Spring of 2012. I don’t have a back cover blurb, but it’s basically a story of  recovering pop-princess, Summer Sinclair, who doesn’t know who to trust or who loves her for who she is-not what she can do for them. She meets Christian music singer, Levi Preston, who redefines everything she’s ever thought about love. It’s a fun story set in the North Georgia mountains.

Can you tell me of two “Wow” moments you’ve had since you’ve been published? What made it a “Wow” for you?

I guess I’ve had good “Wow” moments and bad “Wow” moments. The bad “Wow” moments? Some of the reviews can get crazy. Now I just go “Wow!” On the other hand the emails I have received have been amazing. A couple have made me cry—in a good “Wow” way. Seeing that the words God gave you to write have touched someone in a good way-well, that’s a reflection of who God is. A very “Wow” moment!

Is being an author everything you thought it would be? What surprised you?

I can say I love being an author. I love the writing process. I love creating stories. I love interacting with other authors at writer meetings, conferences and online. There’s this passion and energy regarding the processes when you are around others who have the same passion. I think what surprised me was somebody (my publisher) got my passion and wanted to pay me for it. That was a very surprising moment.

Why write Christian Fiction when you could write any other market? What’s the draw?

I want to share the awesome message of Jesus with other people. Writing is one way to do that. I feel like God gave me the desire to write. I want to write for His glory. I want the stories I write to reflect the loving nature of the One who loves us.

QUESTIONS I JUST HAD TO ASK!!

What are three things you would not want to live without?

Bible, coffee and computer. (My husband too, but I don’t think he’s a thing.)

Your friend has a time machine and they’re going to let you use it, but you can only experience two events in the history of the world. What two events would you like to experience and why?

I would love to have been at the wedding where Jesus turned the water into wine. Our pastor just did a sermon on that and like he said, Jesus wasn’t sitting in the back in the corner—He was in the mix of things. Sounds like an exciting event! (Jesus is exciting!) I’ve always been fascinated by Queen Elizabeth. Maybe her coronation?

What are two places you’d like to visit if you had a chance? Why?

Italy and Alaska. Italy because it just seem romantic and Alaska, because I went there on a cruise, but wanted to spend more time in Alaska. It’s beautiful country and in the summer has awesome weather!

Name two movies you could watch over and over again!

Notting Hill and First Knight.

Name three favorite books you read as a child?

Magic Elizabeth, Christy, and all the Nancy Drew books.

  1. I enjoyed the interview with Lindi. I'm thankful for Christian writers that want to Glorify God by using the talent he gave them to write clean wholesome Christian Fiction. I too read Nancy Drew books when I was growing up. I would love to win a copy of "Her Best Catch".

Lindi is a new author to me and I was just wondering how many books she has written and the title of her very first one.
