Janice Thompson is a seasoned romance author and former screenwriter. An expert at pulling the humor from the situations we get ourselves into, Thompson affords an inside look at TV land, drawing on her experiences as a screenwriter. She is the author of the Weddings by Bella series and Stars Collide. She lives in Texas.

From the Back Cover When it comes to love, one thing's for sure--it doesn't follow a script! Athena Pappas is the head writer on Stars Collide, one of the most popular sitcoms in television history. But when Vegas comedian Stephen Cosse is brought in to beef up the show's suddenly sagging ratings, she starts to worry about her job. Sparks fly as the competition--and attraction--between the two writers heats up. Athena has never had a problem writing the romances of her characters. So why is her own love life so hard to script? With humor and a Hollywood-insider viewpoint, Hello, Hollywood! delivers lots of laughs as Athena and Stephen discover that not being in control of the plot of their lives might just be the best thing that ever happened to them.

Review: I’m so thankful to have received a review copy of the second book in the backstage pass series! This author takes the reader away from the cares of life and gives them hours of relaxation, enjoyment and laughter.

I read and enjoyed Janice’s Wedding Planner series and like this series just as much. I love how Janice writes about family and how they do life together. Every family has their own unique characteristic and in Hello Hollywood this author introduces us to a Greek family. Just like in the Wedding Planner series, Janice brings out the family traditions and their food. Her last series dealt with Italian food in this book it’s Greek. This family owns a Greek Sandwich shop.

I enjoyed the quirky, fun family members and their dynamic relationships. The main character Athena, is the head writer for the hit T.V. show Stars Collide. She works really hard at what she does in a male dominated industry.

Janice does a great job in giving the reader an insiders view of how writers work together to come up with each weeks episode, from brainstorming, to actually getting the dialogue down on paper. She also gives us a peek into the political side of the business. I like how this author shows how Aethna stays grounded and is not swayed too much by media’s rumors and demands on her life. A person could become very paranoid if they weren’t grounded in Christ and had the support of their family.

There’s a dip in Stars Collide ratings and the producer brings in a new writer Stephen Cosse. Aethna is worried that she’s being replaced by a comedian who has written a hit HBO special, but as time goes on she realizes things aren’t what they seem. She learns about second chances in a practical way.  I like how Janice naturally brought in about how God is a God of second chances as well.

I adore Janice’s well timed humor, how she has us laugh at the funny things in life and how she brings in animals. Hysterical!  I had so much fun. I also enjoyed how Athena struggled to keep writing in a male dominated field but pondered about her Plan B. Her plan B if her writing gig fell apart was to open a bakery; she did make a mean baklava.

I highly recommend this fun and light hearted read. I’ve enjoyed this series as much as the last.  I think Janice needs to come out with a cook book showing the collection of fun family recipes from all her books. Just saying – I’d love to try the food you write about!!
