SHORT BOOK DESCRIPTION:
As Little Cub and Grampa Bear’s fishing adventure is interrupted by mischievous otters, the young polar bear begins to question why we must love others… even the seemingly unlovable.
In answering her questions, Grampa Bear gives tender explanations that teach Little Cub about the different kinds of love that is shared between families, friends, and mamas and papas. Grampa explains that all these kinds of love come from God and that it is important to love others because…
“Any time we show love, Little Cub, we’re sharing a bit of his love.”
This sweet tale will warm the hearts of young children as they learn about all the different sorts of love, while the gentle explanations of each provide a valuable opportunity to encourage children to share with others a “God-sized love.” Now in a sturdy format, ideal for the littlest hands at storytime, bedtime, or anytime. Lisa Tawn Bergren books illustrated by Laura J. Bryant are adorable and have a great message. Just looking at the cover makes you smile. When I read this book to my grandson I delighted in how his eyes light up when he looked at the cute bears. He's too young to grasp the message but reading the book together or apart the book brings up topics we can talk about as he gets older. Lisa helps us lay the foundation for fun talks in the future.
The polar cub is worried the otters will scare away the fish they are trying to catch, the grandfather says, "That's alright. Half the fun of fishing is being together right?" (Just like how I enjoy reading this beautifully illustrated book together with my grandson.
"God is love and he wants us to LOVE one another...." I think you are never too young to start talking about this topic and how to apply this principle to our lives. It's one that we will be working out until Jesus returns! I also like how the Grandfather talks to the Cub bear about the different types of love. The concepts are simple.
I loved their GROUP FAMILY HUG!! We do that. I love that this book is a board book so after I've read the book to my grandson he can read it by himself! When he does I watch him smile big and soak up every page before he turns to the next. There is wonder in his eyes. I know this book will be a great tool for us to discuss God's love as he gets old. I highly recommend this book and the other children's books Lisa has written!
