WARMER DAYS, DARKER NIGHTS BOOK TOUR

Bill Myers, Heather Burch and Jill Williamson

It was a BLAST to meet BILL MYERS, HEATHER BURCH and JILL WILLIAMSON Saturday, April 14th. I was thrilled to meet three talented authors writing in the youth market in one place. Bill Myers has been writing Christian books for young readers, teens and Christian Fiction for adults. He co-authored the McGee and Me series, his other series included Agent Dingaldorf, My life as... series, and so many more. He was featuring his Forbidden Doors Series.

In the middle of the picture is  Heather Burch with her debut novel The Halflings. Her book is under consideration for a film deal. Her book is doing well in Christian circles and also in the main stream publishers. I talked with Heather about this book and found it fascinating that it was 15 years in the making. Her husband was a youth pastor and their youth had a revival 15 years ago and the youth at that time were hungry to read books that had the spiritual message of Christ. The Harry Potter books were fun and engaging but where were the books that were just as good but had a Christian message? Heather has had a passion for the youth and writing. God combined the two passions into her debut novel, Halflings.

Jill Williams is a Christy Award winning novelist. Her first series is what a fan and her are holding below. Her new series is more of the Sci-fi Fantasy her first books were about. I'm intrigued by the cover of the book. Replication. Her husband is a youth pastor as well. The youth were pointing out to her that there really wasn't anything fun and engaging to read for teens to read. That's why many of them were reading other books not in Christian circles. This inspired Jill to step up and see if she could write a book that had all the glitz of Hollywood but with all the passion of Christ's message.

"I'd always known Halflings would open with Nikki being chased through the woods by hell-hounds. I couldn't get the image out of my head, so I wrote that scene." An X-Men fan and a hopeless romantic, Heather wanted to someday tell a story of extraordinary young people and the struggles that accompany saving the world.
