Hang On Tight
“…all the people hung on His words.” Luke 19:48
If we were asked to measure our desperation for Christ and for all the things of God, how would we rate? For unless we have an insatiable desire for God and HisWord, neither will hold our attention. Notice how in the verse, all the people hung on His words! How captivating must have been the very words spoken from the lips of Jesus to a crowd desperate for salvation! When we read God’s Word, do we cling to it with a firm, two-handed grip or do we simply read it, never really grasping it at all? Oh beloved, every word and every promise can uphold the full weight of our lives and the circumstances therein. It may be that we are merely trying to hold onto God’s Word with one hand, while trying to hold onto our lives with the other. You can rest assured that if you place both hands on the Lord and every promise written in His precious Word, He will, in turn, hold onto you and everything in your life. Trusting Him requires our full embrace!
Your Word never fails to speak,
To my life’s greatest needs.
Even when my flesh is weak,
It’s on Your truth my spirit feeds.
I hang on tight to Your every word,
To Your promises I cling.
I submit ‘til all my heart has heard,
And to You a new song I sing!
