As the power begins to be restored, the Brannings face their toughest crisis yet. Will God require more of them this time than they’re prepared to give?

REVIEW: I bought this audio book version of the book because I have a long ride to work and because I had read the first book in this restoration series for book club titled Last Light. What would life be like if technology and electric was out everywhere? Life would take on a whole new dimension.

This series follows the Branning family as they try to adapt to the problems brought on by the pulses felt all over the world. What these were no one knew. This author shows this families struggle and how they still maintained their integrity and Christian witness in the middle of the storm. I liked how transparent and real this family and story was.

This book shows the hope of their power slowly but surely returning. Everyone has been changed by the years of no power. The world is a different place. What would life look like when the power is restored?

No one knew. Mark says to Deni, “I don’t want to go back to the way I was before.”

She shook her head, “neither do I. God got our attention with the Pulses. He had to empty our hands so we could finally reach for Him.”

Then Mark touched her face, “And then he gave us more than we had before.”

This is a compelling suspenseful, filled with hope story for the future that was hard to put down; it was so realistic. I liked what this author says in her notes to readers. “Today I ran across a verse in Isiah 26 that jumped out at me. It says, “For when the earth experiences your judgments the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.” V9b

As I’ve worked my way through this series, I’ve asked the question over and over: What might God do to get our nation’s attention in order to bring righteousness? Will He use a super nova that knocks out all our technology? Etc….He holds the world in His hands and wants what’s best for us.” In their affection they will earnestly seek me, “The Lord says in Hosea 5:15

This event could really happen. I appreciate the author sharing her heart in these notes. She keeps the main thing the main thing as everyone goes through the unthinkable! I highly recommend the whole series. This novel could be read as a standalone but you’d miss out on so much. The author makes references to events that happened in other books to bring the reader up to speed – but reading about the details will have you experience this event in a profound way! This is a great book club pick too. It’s rich in character development and plot. There are so many twists and turns. You’ll be up late reading this book guaranteed.
